Driver Shows Fake ID To Westchester Cops After Blowing Through Stop Sign, Police Say

A man driving without a court-mandated interlock device for a previous DWI offense tried to pull a fast one on Westchester County Police officers with a fake ID after being stopped for blowing through a stop sign.

Officers stopped Bedford Hills resident Byron Monroy-Martinez, 31, shortly after 9:30 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 16 after he failed to stop at a stop sign at the intersection of Parkview Place and Route 133 in Mount Kisco.

Police said that during the stop, the man produced a Maryland driver’s license, which was ultimately deemed to be fraudulent. Additionally, officers said that the vehicle was not equipped with an ignition interlock device, which was required by a court order in any vehicle he operates.

Monroy-Martinez was arrested and charged with forgery, using a vehicle without an interlock device and he was cited for driving without a license and failure to stop at a stop sign. Following his arraignment, Monroy-Martinez was released on $100 bail and is scheduled to appear in Mount Kisco Justice Court at a later date to respond to the charges.
